Ryan Pigg represented a family who lost a loved one after a granite slab weighing over 800lbs fell off of a delivery truck and crushed him. Defendants failed to provide any safety training or institute policies and procedures to keep workers away from the dangerous slab during unloading and loading. In 2005 and 2008, OSHA published guidelines explaining the extreme degree of risk associated with loading and unloading granite slabs and the significant caution that must be exercised while performing these operations. Defendants failed to heed these guidelines. Discovery revealed that this particular facility had multiple similar incidents involving employees being crushed by granite.
